The Evergreen Council and Foursquare Leadership are proposing a change to our legal structure within the Foursquare denomination by transitioning from a Charter Church to a Covenant Church.

The primary difference is that a charter church (our existing structure) does not own its property; instead, the property is owned by the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel.  In a Covenant Church, the local church (in our case, Evergreen Christian Center) owns and controls its own assets, while agreeing to operate within the bylaws of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel.

No. Evergreen will continue to operate under Foursquare's bylaws and remain part of the Foursquare family.

Three primary reasons:It aligns Evergreen with the future direction of Foursquare.It provides greater local autonomy for future organizational decisions.It helps strengthen Evergreen's long-term legal and financial stability.

Our property remains dedicated to the ministry of Evergreen and Foursquare. The Covenant agreement includes safeguards that ensure church assets continue to serve Foursquare's mission.

While not legally required, Foursquare recommends that churches receive at least a 75% affirmative vote from their congregation before making this transition. We believe this is a healthy way to move forward together.
